CUBE ENTERTAINMENT ADDRESSES SOYEON'S ALLEGED PLAGIARISM

PRETTY CONFUSING.

CUBE Entertainment has responded officially to KQ Entertainment's claim that Soyeon's producer team Eden-ary was improperly credited on (G)I-DLE Soyeon's original song "SUN," which was performed by the Challenge Team during the finale of MBC's girl group audition show 'My Teenage Girl.'

The following is the statement:

"Greetings, my name is CUBE Entertainment.

We would like to express our official position on the controversy surrounding the MBC 'My Teenage Girls' competition song 'SUN,' in which Soyeon of (G)I-DLE competed.

To begin, we apologize for confusing many people during the release of the competition song 'SUN.'

Immediately following the broadcast, we detected the similarity of several melodies via monitoring, and our artist immediately communicated the situation to the composer and apologized.

As the similarity to the song was acknowledged during the process, it was determined that the credit correction should be granted, and so, after consulting with the composer, Soyeon requested a credit correction through the production company. Following that, the composer's agency objected to the addition of credits an hour before the song's release, and a revision request was made through the production company; however, [the song] was released without that [revision].

We apologize once more for prioritizing credit correction in situations where specific consultations with the composer's agency were not conducted, and we will ensure that this does not happen again in the future.
